Ever wonder what could make children want to learn and enjoy learning?

Well not only teachers wonder but parents do to, this had me thinking when I wanted my 4 years old to learn shapes and be able to recognize them but he wasn’t interested at all, until I decided to cut Kellogg’s box into different shapes and painted them colourfully. He found me doing that and asked what I was doing I told him I was making those shapes for him, well guess what? He smiled and said please tell me what this shapes are, I smiled back and taught him, he asked if we can put them on the wall because he wants to learn them everyday. I was very proud and happy.

I did what he asked,we both put them on the wall and few days he remembered each shape by name and actually started recognizing shapes everywhere in the house. He would say” wow Mama look, yourself looks like a rectangle” with a huge smile I agreed with him and told him he was a very good boy and deserve three claps for that, he was indeed proud of himself too.

Children want learning to be fun,straight forward teaching bores them. Children want to build, paint, run, jump, sing etc for learning to be meaningful to them.

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
